2023 Year in Review

2023 was the year of generosity. Our community really came together to give to others in a variety of different ways. We also continued to provide many opportunities for people to connect informally and through all the different programs we hosted.

MAKING CONNECTIONS

This was our 3rd year of weekly Wednesday Park Chats/ Coffee Shop Chats. We’ve now met 143 times! We enjoy the coffee chats so much that this Fall we added a monthly Pub Chat the 2nd Monday of the Month.

We had some fun connecting and sharing travel tips and tricks on Sunday afternoon in the Winter.

VOLUNTEERING

We were happy to be back with our 6th annual Community Volunteer Fair in August.

We’re always on the lookout for opportunities to volunteer as a group. Here’s where we were this year:

  • Tech for Success
  • Junior Achievement Biz Town
  • Bundles of Love
  • Every Meal
  • Kids in Need MN

COLLECTIONS AND DONATIONS

We accepted the challenge to deliver 1,000 snack packs for Agate Housing Services. It was a major effort to find donations, buy and put together snack packs with 8 different snacks. Together our community smashed their record and delivered 1,112 packs!

This year we proved that “Little by little, becomes A LOT!” We asked our community to donate stamps they received for buying groceries at Cub so we could get pans to donate to Bridging. We collected 189 sheets of stamps so we were able to donate 21 beautiful new pans!!!

We held a special event we called a Mom Shower to honor young moms who are living at Life Haven in St. Paul. Once again our community stepped up and donated so that we could show these teenage moms that they matter.

We did multiple Red Bin Collections this year:

  • Free Book Buggie
  • Winter Wear for Roseville Schools

This year we did our 4th Bake Sale to raise money to buy new winter coats for school kids.

We repeated our No Garage Garage Sale again this year.

We joined the Roseville School District to collect school supplies

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Our Juneteenth Celebration this year was bigger and better than ever! We had illustrious speakers, lively entertainment, great free food, and dozens of exhibitors.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

The League of Women Voters Roseville created two part series on artificial intelligence. The first session focused on how AI is used in key areas in our community including education, human services and voting. Do Good Roseville was a co-host.

The second session covered the question “How does the State of MN secure our elections in this increasingly complex and technical world further challenged by artificial intelligence.

FAITH

This Fall we invited our local faith communities to learn about the Sacred Community of Tiny Homes that Prince of Peace Lutheran Church has established. Cari McCollor, the Housing Navigator for the City of Roseville, also shared information about her work in our community.

FUN !

During the cold dark winter of 2023, we gathered together at a park building with warm drinks and hosted multiple game nights! We played Uno, Pit and Farkel.

For the fourth year, Kiwanis Malt Shop at the State Fair provided free kites so we could have Kite Day in the Park.

To celebrate the holidays this year we rented a pink party bus and drove all over the Cities looking at holiday lights!
